Hunter Grange Investments Ltd is a limited company formed by social entrepreneurs Trudy Thompson and Josh Taylor to purchase and manage commercial properties and agricultural land for the long term benefit of their local community of Tywardreath in Cornwall.
These properties will provide the premises for enterprises that make a positive social impact on the local community and inspire more local people to start and run their own micro business.
In 2016 Hunter Grange Investments has raised the funds to buy properties and fund the start-up costs of the local enterprising people we are supporting to run their own business operating our premises. We raised a community investment fund from local people who will benefit from special offers such as free membership to our community buying scheme. They will also be the first to be offered shares in the company and a shared ownership property scheme that will be launched after 3 years.
To enable others to replicate this groundbreaking sustainable, social business model in their own community we will provide training workshops and a social franchise business opportunity to share our experience and resources.
Hunter Grange Investments Ltd is buying Tywardreath Village Shop and Elmswood House Bed and Breakfast as a long term investment to benefit the local community. The properties have been on the market as going concerns because the owners are retiring but without a commercial buyer these established, profitable businesses risked having to close and the property may have been sold for residential use only.
These valuable small businesses already add to the vibrancy of Tywardreath and we plan to continue running and modernising the businesses to operate them as social enterprises that return their profits to our community. Our plan is to operate the village shop, open a new cafe and provide useful schemes such as a buying group to directly benefit local people. We’ve been running social enterprises and community ventures at Newhouse Farm in Tywardreath for the past 2 years with great success so we’re certain we can achieve even more with these additional properties and our enterprising community.
